What to expect

wtf is this thing?

Every week, I’m reading cool/interesting things on the internet related to health and longevity.

This newsletter is one of my best finds every week that you can implement tomorrow and maintain.

To start, it’ll focus mostly on nutrition, exercise, and sleep.

That’s it.

You’ll probably be able to skim the whole thing in under 20 seconds.

Stuff I’m not gonna talk about:

  • breakthrough studies in rats

  • genetic similarities in doppelgangers

  • how bee sting venom might help treatment-resistant strains of breast cancer

It’ll only be what most of us can actually do, backed by reputable sources from the scientific community (and translated into normal people words).

It won’t be super obvious things like “drink water,” but the goal is to feature short notes/tips to build habits we have a good shot of keeping up over our lifetimes.

So if you’re already listening to 2 hour Huberman podcasts, getting an NAD+ drip, sleeping on an Eight Sleep mattress, or doing a whole cold plunge/sauna routine, this probably won’t be it for you.

BUT, if you’re too lazy to do your own research and still wanna be able to make it to friendsgiving when you're 90, let’s learn a thing or two together.

I’m going to write 20 of these, and see how people like it. All I need from you is your brutal honest feedback. If you love ‘em, tell me. If you hate ‘em, let it rip.

If you’re in, LFG! Let’s play the long game together.

Allison

P.S. A quick primer for those that don’t know me:

  • I don’t have a background in anything remotely health-related - I’m a PM at Google, a B+ writer, and have no relevant credentials except knowing how to study, so that’s pretty much all I can promise you here.

  • A few years before I turned 30, I set a goal to get in the best shape of my life by 30. Before then, I was eating and drinking pretty much whatever I wanted, and would run maybe once or twice a week. I did it, and went from 30.5% body fat to now 13.3%.

  • I'm a big believer in compound interest, that small things you do can add up to be really impactful if you give it a long enough time horizon.

  • I love looking for shortcuts. Sometimes lazy people really do win.
